Ibn Notes: Born and raised in Kinshasa, Congo, Mabika is a member of the Congolese National Team and since the age of 14, was a member of the Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Cono) National Team that competed in Atlanta Olympics in 1996. Mwadi Mabika is one of only a handful of WNBA players who have been with the league since the league's beginning. Although not selected during the inaugural WNBA draft nor well-known, Mabika was allocated to the Sparks and has gone on to enjoy significant success.
Mabika played a critical role on the Los Angeles Sparks team that captured back-to-back WNBA titles in 2001 and 2002. In 2000 and 2002, Mabika was selected as a WNBA All-Star, and in 2002, Mabika's best season to date, she earned All-WNBA First Team honors after ranking sixth in the league in scoring (16.8) and 5.2 rebounds per game. In 2006, the 10th anniversary of the WNBA, Mabika was one of the nominees for the WNBA All-decade team.
